Located in Hanwell, Ealing, the Redbright Institute is a school that was created primarily for meta humans, but that welcomes supernatural beings of all kinds. The school was founded in 1923 by Florence Redbright, a witch who recognized that there was a need to help young meta humans who had begun to develop their powers but had no supernatural community to support them, and who were often unaware that others like them existed at all.

Since its humble beginnings as a charity founded by witches, it has gradually expanded to welcome young people of all supernatural backgrounds, providing them not only with an education, but also encouraging peace and positive relations between supernatural species. In 1972 the first werewolf student was accepted, and in 1995 the first vampire joined the school.

Today, the school trains young people to control and use their powers for good, as well as providing an excellent all-round education. Students aged 11-18 are accepted into full-time education, while short courses and bespoke training are available for students aged 18 and above. All staff are aware of the nature of their students and many are supernatural themselves.

Societies
Outreach Group
A branch of the institute that employs both supernatural forces and normal humans in order to protect people of supernatural origin and ordinary citizens. Its aims are threefold: 1) to seek out young meta humans, witches and other supernatural people who have not yet become aware of the wider supernatural community and bring them into the fold; 2) to ensure that all Londoners are kept safe from supernatural threats; and 3) to preserve the secrecy of the supernatural world. They work in small teams to seek out and contain supernatural activity, and pride themselves on making London a safe place for everyone. They are colloquially known as the Reds because of their insignia cf. "the Reds are coming to get you".

Locations
Assembly Hall
The largest space in the school, the assembly hall is used to gather the entire student body for announcements or events. There is a monthly address by the Dean. In addition, graduation ceremonies, parties and other events are hosted here.

Cafeteria & Dining Hall
Students move from the cafeteria, which is self-service until you pay for your food at the end, to eat in the dining hall. Breakfast is served from 8-9.30am, lunch at 12-2pm, dinner at 5-7pm. The dining hall consists of four long wooden tables and benches, plus the head table where only professors may sit.

Classrooms
The classrooms are the only places inside the school building where magic is allowed to be performed, and then only with instructor permission.

Gardens and Greenhouses
The school grows trees and plants that are useful in the practice of witchcraft. Students are expected to help tend the gardens, with a particular focus on herbs that are commonly used in magic, such as rosemary. The greenhouses also include stores of dried herbs, bark and other plants for use in medicine and spells. Magic lessons often take place inside the greenhouses, which have dedicated tables and class space for doing so.

Grounds
As well as the gardens, the Redbright Institute has extensive grounds including three sports fields (one for cricket, one for football and rugby, and an all-purpose field that includes an athletics track), a quad around which the main buildings are centred, an outdoor pavilion and lawn where people occasionally play croquet in the summer, a car park and a small fishing lake.

Lecture Halls
There are a number of lecture theatres, some larger than others, where instructors may give talks to students. These all have large screens installed for presentations.

Library
The school library is stocked with spellbooks, bestiaries, supernatural history and all manner of ancient magical texts. Of course, the section open to students contains only basic spellbooks. Arcane spellbooks are in the Restricted Section, which students must request permission to access. Even teachers must request a particularly rare book.

There are no dark spellbooks in the library. Don't go looking for them, and definitely don't ask.

Offices
Offices in the school include the Dean's office, Matron's office, Chancellor's office and other private offices for senior faculty members. With the exception of the Matron's office which has an open door policy, you must make an appointment to see any senior member of staff.

Reception
The main building entrance will lead you first into the reception area, where there are two nice ladies at the counter who will tell you where you need to go. They mostly deal with visitors rather than students.

Sports Hall
The indoor sports hall or gymnasium is used for sports such as netball, hockey, gymnastics, badminton and rounders. It is equipped for all of these sports. There are male and female changing rooms.

Student Quarters
While the majority of students attending the school are day students, there are some who for various reasons have made the Redbright Institute their home. For these boarding school students, the student quarters are located in a separate building to the main school. Younger students share a room, while older students get their own individual rooms. Corridors are split into male and female, and each corridor has a shared bathroom.

There is also an outbuilding which includes laundry rooms for all live-in students, and a common room for recreation.

Swimming Pool
There is an indoor swimming pool. All students are taught to swim. Unsupervised swimming is not allowed and the pool is therefore closed in the evening.

Training Arena
In the basement of the school, there is a large arena designed for the practice of supernatural powers. With no windows and soundproofed walls, it's the perfect location to train in secret. There's also a storage cupboard for useful equipment e.g. stakes, guns, blades made of silver or iron. This is a restricted area and can only be accessed by the Outreach Group.
